Overview of Our Research
It’s all about epigenetics!
From mammalian to plant systems, in healthy development and disease, epigenetics is a key mechanism involved in these processes.
Epigenetics is the layer of information that tells our genes where and how to be expressed without changes to the gene sequence. Whether or not a gene is expressed, for example whether it is turned off or on, is what leads to how an organism such as a developing embryo, a rat, or even a plant turns out. The BM Epigenetics Lab is passionate about how all organisms develop. By understanding the processes involved in healthy development we can reduce the chances of things going wrong.
